Sheikh Hasina arrived on a two-day state visit, where India and Bangladesh on Saturday signed 10 agreements, including a major project for the conservation and management of Teesta river. These agreements were finalized during talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. These agreements also include starting negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and expanding defense ties.
Additionally, both sides signed agreements to strengthen ties in areas such as digital sector, maritime sector, blue economy, railways, space, green technology, health and medicine. In his address, Prime Minister Modi said that Bangladesh is India's biggest development partner and New Delhi gives priority to its relations with it. India-Bangladesh Friendship Satellite will give new heights to our relations. He said that India will start e-medical visa facility for people coming from Bangladesh for treatment.
Sheikh Hasina invited Indian companies
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina described India as a major neighbor and a reliable friend of Bangladesh. She also invited Indian companies to invest in special economic zones of the country. Said that she wants to make the economy of Bangladesh more strong and sustainable.

Sheikh Hasina visited India before going to China
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to visit China in July, but before that she has come to India. Sheikh Hasina arrived on a two-day state visit to India on Friday. This is the first official visit of a foreign leader after the formation of the new government in India after the Lok Sabha elections.

Agreement reached on Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement
- A team will visit Bangladesh for conservation and management of Teesta river.
- India will help in building inland container depot in Sirajganj.
- India will open a new Assistant High Commission in Rangpur, Bangladesh.
- Passenger train service between Kolkata and Rajshahi will start soon.
- Trial run of goods train from Gede-Darshan to Haldibari-Chilahati border crossing interchange point next month.
- A new bus service will also be started between Kolkata and Chittagong.
- India will help in modernization of Bangladeshi armed forces (BAF).
- Both countries will work together on increasing Maitri Satellite, Blue Economy, Digital, Green Partnership and Railway Connectivity.
- India will start e-medical visa facility for people coming from Bangladesh for treatment.
