Northern Israel – In a retaliation military operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have eliminated Fuad Shukr, also known as "Sayyid Muhsan", Hezbollah’s most senior military commander and the right-hand man of Hassan Nasrallah. Shukr had been directing Hezbollah's attacks on Israel since October 8th and was recently responsible for the tragic murder of 12 children in Majdal Shams.

Key Takeaways:

Elimination of Fuad Shukr

The IDF confirmed the death of Shukr, marking a significant blow to Hezbollah's military leadership. Shukr orchestrated several high-profile attacks, including the recent assault in the Israel-controlled Golan Heights.

Hezbollah’s Arsenal

Shukr was in main role managing Hezbollah’s advanced weaponry, including precise-guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range rockets, and UAVs.

Netanyahu’s Warning

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Hezbollah of severe retaliation, declaring, "Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for this murderous attack."

Military Response

Following the attack on Majdal Shams, the IDF launched airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions deep within Lebanese territory.

Netanyahu’s Strong Stance Against Hezbollah

Prime Minister Netanyahu cut short his visit to the United States to address the escalating violence. In a firm statement, he asserted Israel's resolve to retaliate against Hezbollah, emphasizing that Israel would not tolerate attacks on its civilians.

IDF’s Swift and Decisive Action

In response to the deadly rocket strike, the IDF executed precise airstrikes on Hezbollah targets. Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, an IDF spokesperson, condemned Hezbollah's actions, highlighting the group’s indiscriminate targeting of civilians.

"This attack shows the true face of Hezbollah – a terrorist organization that targets and murders children," Hagari said in a social media statement.

The IDF's swift response aimed to neutralize further threats and send a clear message to Hezbollah and its allies.

Regional Tensions and International Reactions

Despite Hezbollah’s denial of involvement in the attack, Israeli intelligence identified the rockets as Iranian-made Falaq-1, typically used by Hezbollah. This incident has heightened tensions along the volatile Israel-Lebanon border, raising fears of a broader conflict.

International Reactions: The global community has expressed deep concern over the escalation. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken affirmed Israel's right to self-defense, while Iran warned against further Israeli actions in Lebanon, suggesting potential deadly consequences.

Local Impact and Mourning

The community of Majdal Shams mourns the loss of their children, with hundreds attended funerals.

"The children who died on that football field could have been any of our children. Therefore, they are indeed the children of each of us." said Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid.
