Amit Shah Slams Mallikarjun Kharge’s ‘Distasteful’ Remark on PM Modi | BJP vs Congress in J&K Elections 2024

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday labeled Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's speech as "distasteful and disgraceful" after Kharge said he would not die before ousting Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power. This remark came after Kharge fainted while addressing a rally in Jammu and Kashmir.

Amit Shah criticizes Mallikarjun Kharge's 'distasteful' remarks on PM Modi, asserting he’ll stay healthy until Modi is ousted in J&K 2024 elections.

Shah’s sharp criticism was shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where he accused Kharge of unnecessarily dragging PM Modi into his personal health issues, calling it a "bitter display of spite."

Kharge’s Remark Sparks Controversy

The incident took place on Sunday in Jasrota, Jammu and Kashmir, where the 83-year-old Congress leader momentarily fainted during a public rally. Upon resuming his speech, Kharge said, "I am not going to die so early. I will stay alive till PM Modi is removed from power".

In response, Amit Shah’s post read, "Yesterday, the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Ji outperformed himself, his leaders, and his party in being absolutely distasteful and disgraceful in his speech".

Shah further claimed that Kharge’s comments reveal the "hate and fear" the Congress harbors toward PM Modi, stating, "It just shows how much hate and fear these Congress people have of PM Modi, that they are thinking of him constantly".

Amit Shah & PM Modi Extend Prayers for Kharge’s Health

While Shah criticized Kharge’s remarks, he also wished him good health, saying, "As for the health of Mr. Kharge Ji, Modi Ji prays, I pray, and we all pray that he lives a long, healthy life. May he live to witness the creation of a Viksit Bharat by 2047".

Prime Minister Modi later called Kharge to inquire about his health. Kharge’s son, Priyank Kharge, a minister in Karnataka, updated followers on X, stating that his father was "doing well" after being treated for slightly low blood pressure.
