$150,000 reward to Complete the Job: Ryan Routh’s Letter After Failed Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump

A failed assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump has come under intense scrutiny after federal authorities revealed that the suspect, Ryan Routh, left a prewritten letter months before the incident, declaring his intention to kill Trump. The chilling note, addressed to "The World", was part of a box filled with incriminating evidence found in the home of an unnamed witness.

Ryan Routh's letter details a $150,000 bounty for completing job in a failed Sep. 15 assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a Florida golf course.

A Deadly Message Months in Advance

In the handwritten letter, Routh expressed his intention to assassinate Trump, describing the planned attack as an act of political conviction. “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster”, Routh wrote. The note also promised a $150,000 reward for anyone who could complete the job, hinting at his awareness of a potential failure and calling on others to follow through.

The letter was part of a box that Routh had left at a witness’s home several months before the September 15th incident. Along with the letter, the box contained ammunition, building materials, four phones, and other tools, illustrating that Routh had been preparing for the assassination for a significant amount of time.

It wasn’t until after Routh’s arrest that the witness opened the box and handed the materials over to law enforcement. The discovery of the letter has intensified the case against Routh, offering a clearer picture of his motives and long-standing intentions.

The Incident at Trump's Golf Course

On September 15th, Routh positioned himself near the sixth hole of Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course, armed with a semiautomatic rifle. As a Secret Service agent secured the course ahead of Trump’s arrival, they spotted Routh hiding in the bushes with the barrel of the rifle visible. The agent fired a shot, causing Routh to flee the scene without returning fire.

Authorities later discovered the abandoned weapon at the scene, loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition and fitted with a scope. Routh was arrested shortly after his escape when a witness spotted his vehicle on Interstate 95.

Routh's Long Planning and Criminal History

The court filings indicate that Routh had been planning the assassination for months. Phone records and location data showed that he had staked out both Trump’s golf course and his Mar-a-Lago resort from mid-August to September. A handwritten list found in Routh’s vehicle also detailed Trump’s scheduled appearances during this time, suggesting Routh was tracking the former president’s movements.

Ryan Routh, a North Carolina native who had most recently lived in Hawaii, has a lengthy criminal record. His charges range from possession of stolen goods to a 2002 conviction for possessing a weapon of mass destruction. He also had a failed attempt to join the Ukrainian military in 2022, further highlighting his non-human and dangerous behavior.

Court Proceedings & Future Implications

The letter and other materials found in the box will likely play a critical role in the prosecution’s case against Routh. Initially charged with two federal gun crimes, Routh may now face additional charges based on the evidence that points directly to an assassination attempt.

Prosecutors have argued that Routh poses a serious flight risk and remains a danger to the community. They highlighted that the suspect had searched online for ways to flee to Mexico after the assassination attempt.

As the investigation continues, questions are being raised about the security protocols surrounding Trump’s public appearances. Authorities are likely to enhance protective measures, particularly in light of the two recent assassination attempts.
